About the Role
Are you an experienced construction professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for delivering quality infrastructure outcomes? As the Leading Hand Construction, you'll play a pivotal role in leading frontline construction teams, coordinating works programs, and ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of roads, drainage, footpaths and other community infrastructure projects across the City.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead, supervise and support construction crews in the delivery of the City's infrastructure construction and maintenance programs.
- Coordinate daily work activities, resources, plant and materials to maximise productivity and operational efficiency.
- Monitor and promote safe work practices, championing a strong workplace health and safety culture across the team.
- Assist with project planning, estimating, scoping, procurement activities and budget delivery for operational projects.
- Liaise with supervisors, contractors, utility providers and stakeholders to ensure works are delivered to schedule and quality standards
What We're Looking For
- Extensive experience in civil construction, road construction and maintenance, including roads, footpaths, drainage, kerbing and verge works.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate teams, delegate tasks and develop staff capability.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience operating construction plant, heavy equipment and construction setting out processes.
- Sound problem-solving, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Current HR Driver's Licence (HC or MC desirable), relevant plant operation competencies, and a commitment to workplace safety.

The City boasts a comprehensive working local history collection containing maps, plans, documents, photographs, newspapers, ephemera and oral history recordings. These are housed at the Karratha Public Library.
