Description

Ipsos, Australia's leading social research company, has been commissioned by Jobs and Skills Australia to conduct the Australian Study of Adult Skills (ASAS). This study is part of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)’s Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC).

ASAS is a large-scale household survey which measures the skills and competencies individuals require to participate in today’s society and the global economy. This is the second time the study has been conducted in Australia, with the first cycle taking place in 2012.

To make the ASAS project a success, we are looking for a committed casual field interviewer to join our team. Work starts early October and runs until early December (approx. 8 weeks).

In this role, you will undertake the recruitment of selected households for the ASAS research study, schedule appointments, and conduct the full interview face-to-face.

Paid training will be provided, and there will be potential for high achievers to be trained in supervisory positions. There may also be opportunities for those with high availability to work on other projects in 2027.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to:

• Be available to work 25-38 hours per week from early October to early December 2026 (approx. 8 weeks)

• Be available for flexible work on some weekdays, some weekday evenings, and some weekends.

• Have a mobile phone, a current driver’s licence, and the right to work in Australia

• Have access to a reliable vehicle and be comfortable driving

• Be confident and comfortable approaching households to introduce the survey

• Be fluent in English and have good communication skills

• Be well-presented, reliable, and have excellent attention to detail.

• Be comfortable using smart devices (e.g., tablets)

• Have a current Working with Children Check or be willing to get one.

• Sales, Field, or Census interviewing experience would be beneficial, but not essential as full training will be provided.
