About the Role
Cathedral Catholic Primary School, Bathurst is seeking a dedicated Grounds and Maintenance Officer to join the team, commencing Term 1, 2026. Supporting the school by ensuring the grounds, sporting fields, gardens, building, and amenities are maintained to the highest standard, this position is crucial to Cathedral's operations team.
Key responsibilities include:
Maintain and present school grounds, gardens, ovals, and sporting facilities to a high standard.
Prepare and set up sporting areas for events and carnivals.
Safely operate and maintain tools, machinery, and apply garden treatments.
Assist with general building, furniture, and equipment maintenance as directed.
Support classroom and facility preparation at the start of each term.
Ensure external areas, gutters, and drains are clean and well maintained.
Follow all WHS policies, report hazards, and promote a safe working environment.
Carry out other reasonable duties to support the smooth running of the school.

About You
- Current Working with Children Check and valid driver’s licence.
- A commitment to support the values and ethos of Catholic education and the ability to contribute to a positive, safe, and welcoming school environment for students, staff and the wider Cathedral community.
- Experience in grounds and building maintenance within a school setting, including the ability to complete both preventative and responsive tasks (e.g. minor repairs, painting, sanding, replacing fittings, garden upkeep, pruning, weeding, mulching and general cleaning).
- Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, prioritise competing demands and work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated expertise in the setup, operation and troubleshooting of sound systems and AV equipment including microphones, speakers, musical instruments and PA systems.
- Strong understanding and application of Work Health and Safety standards, including the ability to conduct regular safety inspections of the grounds, external play spaces and school equipment.
- Excellent organisational skills including the management of maintenance requests, scheduling and coordinating works, and liaising professionally with contractors and tradespeople.
- Physical capability to carry out manual tasks, lift equipment safely and complete outdoor labour across varying weather conditions.
