Branch and Division: Respect at Work Taskforce, Capability & Engagement, SafeWork NSW
Grade: Clerk grade 9/10
Location: Sydney McKell/Flexible
Duration: Ongoing
Hiring Manager: Alexandra Rowe, [email protected]

About the Respect at Work Taskforce

SafeWork NSW is one of the first Australian work health and safety regulators to establish a dedicated Taskforce focused on addressing gender-based harmful workplace behaviours.

The Respect at Work Taskforce is leading the implementation of a four-year strategy to prevent harmful, gender-based behaviours across NSW workplaces, with an initial focus on sexual harassment.

This includes educating NSW businesses on their duties to prevent and respond to workplace sexual harassment before it occurs and taking appropriate enforcement action to protect workers.

In this role, you will join a multidisciplinary team of specialist inspectors, policy and education expertise delivering the SafeWork NSW Respect at work strategy: 2023-2027.

This role is a unique opportunity to influence NSW workplaces, particularly in high-risk industries, through educational resources and programs to promote voluntary compliance and best practice with WHS laws to prevent workplace sexual harassment.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Leading the development of scalable educational resources for NSW workplaces on the prevention of workplace sexual harassment. This includes a focus on high-risk industries and worker cohorts.
  • Working with Respect at Work specialist inspectors and other SafeWork NSW stakeholders to continuously uplift the capability of SafeWork NSW inspectors to respond to reports of workplace sexual harassment.
  • Overseeing a 2-year program funded by the Department of Communities and Justice to deliver workshops to businesses statewide on the drivers and risks of workplace gender-based violence and the actions employers can take to prevent and respond, including two dedicated team members.
  • Maintaining key stakeholder relationships with industry, union, government or other groups to inform strategic programs and educational resources.

About you

  • We are looking for a proactive, highly motivated, enthusiastic, and collaborative person with a passion for diversity and women's advocacy in the workplace.
  • A strong background in project management in a learning and development setting with experience in developing and delivering training programs for a variety of audiences.
  • Subject matter expertise in gender-based violence prevention including workplace sexual harassment and the broader implications of sexual violence within the workplace.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proven ability to support preparation of briefings and recommendations for senior stakeholders, and to tailor communication messaging effectively to different audiences
  • Ability to deliver to tight deadlines and be flexible and resilient in an environment of changing or competing priorities.
  • Thrives in the development of effective stakeholder relationships, including ability to collaborate with colleagues in internal and external teams to enable decisions and outcomes.
