Experienced Full or Part Time Veterinary Nurse - Northwest Sydney

A position is available for a Cert IV qualified veterinary nurse or Vet Tech with at least two years of clinical experience. You would be joining a team of two receptionists and three nurses, two permanent veterinarians and four casual veterinarians. Full time hours would be preferred but permanent part-time or casual hours would be considered. We are a privately owned small animal clinic that has been serving the pets of Sydney's Hills district since 1970. We are close to public transport, shops and the Cumberland State Forest is across the road for a lunch break stroll!

The applicant will be confident in the following:

Patient triage, pre-operative admissions and post-operative discharges

Placement of intra-venous catheters and collection of blood samples

Monitoring of patients under anaesthetic for routine or emergency procedures

Surgical nursing and intra-operative surgical assistance as required

Oral health assessment and dental scale and polishing

Conducting in-house pathology testing

Assist with radiology procedures, primarily setup and positioning

Assist with supervision and training of junior nursing staff

Monitoring and administration of medications to hospitalised patients

The successful applicant will possess for the following attributes:

Availability to work long shifts (8am to 6:30pm) or shorter shifts (9:30am to 2:30pm) as required

Availability for occasional weekend work as required

A positive attitude, good communication skills and consideration for your colleagues, patients and their owner's

Punctuality and reliability

Australian permanent residency or citizenship

The specific hours are negotiable and would be expected to be a mutually agreeable mix of long and short shifts.

Renumeration is based upon experience and the hourly base rate would be in the range of $32 -$37.50.
