The Role

Join Freedom Internet’s engineering team and help design, build, and operate a network we are proud of. As a Network Engineer, you’ll play a key role in scaling and optimising our infrastructure to deliver world-class connectivity to our customers.

Your responsibilities will include:

Maintenance of Software Systems that support the Freedom Network including:

AWS, Rancher, Bitbucket, Python

Designing, configuring, and supporting core and edge routing platforms (MikroTik and others)

Working with OSPF, BGP and MPLS across our national backbone

Maintain and deploy further virtualised BNG

Managing cloud infrastructure and container platforms (AWS, Rancher)

Diagnosing and resolving complex network issues

Contributing to network architecture, security, and capacity planning

Participating in the on-call roster to support critical services

About You

The successful applicant for this role is passionate about networks, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys solving challenging problems. They’ll also bring:

Solid experience with IP networking, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), and MPLS

Experience with BNGs and service provider environments

Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS) and container orchestration (Rancher, Kubernetes)

Scripting or programming experience (Python preferred)

Experience with MikroTik routers or willingness to master them

Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

Excellent communication and documentation ability
