About your new role

The City of Gold Coast is seeking a Senior Engineer (Flood Modeller) with strong TUFLOW skills to deliver pluvial flood mitigation projects that directly protect our community. This role offers the chance to take ownership of high-impact modelling work, while also expanding your skills in stormwater drainage design — with mentoring and support provided.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Leading the delivery of urban flood modelling projects, with TUFLOW at the core.
• Applying complementary tools such as URBS and GIS where required.
• Preparing clear, defensible technical reports that communicate modelling outcomes to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ensuring modelling outputs inform practical flood mitigation and stormwater infrastructure solutions.
• Developing capability in the design of drainage systems including pit & pipe networks, culverts, swales and open channels.
• Supporting and mentoring junior engineers and drafters, building team capability.
• Contributing to the ongoing improvement of modelling practices, workflows, and design integration.

We're looking for people who have:

• A Bachelor of Engineering (Civil, Environmental, or related discipline).
• Approximately 6–8+ years of post-graduate experience, with demonstrated strength in TUFLOW flood modelling (essential).
• Familiarity with URBS and GIS platforms (desirable).
• Strong report writing skills, with the ability to present technical information in a clear and concise manner.
• Willingness to develop expertise in stormwater infrastructure design (pit & pipe systems, culverts, swales, open channels).
• Current Queensland “C” Class driver’s licence.
• General Construction Induction Card (White Card)- Desired.
