Stable, full-time role with training and development (HACCP/SQF upskilling)

As a trusted supplier to major supermarkets and national meal solution providers, at German Butchery we are passionate about producing Continental Smallgoods the traditional way and to the highest quality standard.
We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Control Officer to join our team at German Butchery in our Camellia site (opposite Rosehill Racecourse).
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a proudly Australian-made manufacturer with a strong reputation for producing award winning, premium European smallgoods.
As we continue to grow and expand our production capabilities, we’re creating a new Quality Control role to support and strengthen our food safety and compliance functions across production, packing, and dispatch.
If you have a passion for maintaining the highest standards of food quality, safety, and process control - and enjoy working hands-on in a fast-paced, team-driven environment - we’d love to hear from you.
You’ll work closely with our QA Manager and production teams to ensure compliance with HACCP, SQF, GMP, and customer standards, while helping to continuously improve our processes and uphold our long-standing reputation for excellence..
Your Key Responsibilities will include:
Conduct incoming goods checks, label/allergen verification and positive release.
Perform line checks & CCP monitoring (temps, weights, metal detection, seals, coding/traceability).
Complete GMP/housekeeping audits, hygiene verification and environmental swabbing (as trained).
Raise non-conformances, quarantine “hold” product, and assist with CAPA and root-cause analysis.
Maintain documentation: cooking records, calibration, traceability/mass-balance, retain samples.
Support internal & external audits (SQF/customer/regulatory).
Coach operators on food-safety practices and SOP/work-instruction adherence.
Essential Requirements to be considered for this role are:
Tertiary qualification in Food Science/Technology OR 1–3+ years’ QC experience in food/FMCG (meat/ready-to-eat highly regarded).
Solid working knowledge of HACCP, GMP; exposure to SQF a bonus.
Comfortable working on the floor: proactive, decisive, great communicator.
Strong attention to detail, good computer skills, accurate record-keeping.
Availability for the 5.30am start to align with production (pre-op checks)
Ready to apply?
This is a great opportunity to work locally with a committed and friendly team. If you're looking for a hands-on role with growth potential, we’d love to hear from you.
Due to the permanent nature of this role, no short-term visa holders can be considered.
Please apply with your resume and a brief note covering: your QC experience, HACCP /SQF exposure, earliest start date, and work rights to [email protected] .
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for a phone screen and site visit.
