Position Overview

Duties will include the implementation of training plans for junior and/or adult swim squads and pool deck coaching.

To run the program, SWA needs Swimming Coaches who are passionate about swimming and teaching and are willing to combine the passions to bring “fresh” and new ideas to their sessions.

Other skills you will need include an ability to maintain and grow your squad numbers, as well as an ability to communicate with swimmers and their parents positively and professionally. And of course, you will need to have a great passion for swimming!

Core Responsibilities

To instruct swimming squads to students at SWASP Craigie following SWASP squad program objectives and criteria;

Provide structured squad sessions;

Strong water safety knowledge;

Be able to work and communicate with swimmers and their parents effectively;

Attention to detail and correcting strokes;

Ability to create a fun and safe working environment;

Set up and pack down of daily swimming squads;

Maintenance and equipment checks;

Ongoing assessments of swimmers and their capability levels in the water.

Essential Criteria

Current Working with Children Check;

Current AUSTSWIM or Swim Australia Teacher of Competitive Swimming Strokes Accreditation or ASCTA coaching qualification (or working towards – must have as a minimum a current AUSTSWIM or Swim Australia Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety qualification);

Current CPR certification;

Shift flexibility

Desirable Criteria

Strong communication (written and verbal), relationship building and presentation skills;

“Hands-on” experience in a swimming coaching environment;

A strong passion for swimming and other aquatic sports;

The ability to provide exceptional customer service;

Experience teaching swimmers of a range of ages and ability levels;

Developing Swim Australia Coach Accreditation
