About the Role

We are looking for part-time and/or casual Outdoor Adventure Instructors available to work 3 to 4 days per week, including weekends, school holidays, and public holidays. Previous experience is not essential; we are willing to train you if you are the right person for the future of our team.

Outdoor Adventure Instructors are responsible for the following key areas:

Ensuring customers have a safe and positive climbing experience while visiting the park.

Assisting and encouraging customers as they complete the course. This is done from the ground and occasionally from the course.

Ensuring the correct procedures are being followed while lowering participants from the course.

On a typical day in the forest, you will

Check the courses before opening.

Teach customers how to use our state-of-the-art smart belay system.

Supervise, assist, and encourage customers while they're on course.

Instruct archery and team-building sessions for school and corporate groups.

Help maintain the grounds and courses.

Hang out in the forest with a fantastic group of co-workers.

Forest Adventures is operated by the Capes Foundation, a division of the MRBTA

The Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association (MRBTA) is a not-for-profit organisation, with more than 700 members and 150 staff across the Margaret River region.

Capes Foundation is a division of MRBTA that aims to undertake conservation & restoration, provide education & interpretation, and encourage enjoyment and appreciation of nature and heritage. MRBTA’s Capes Foundation operates four caves, two lighthouses, an adventure ropes course, as well as caring for birds of prey at Capes Raptor Centre.

The funds generated by Capes Foundation operations are used to enhance sustainable tourism by marketing the region to visitors, undertaking visitor servicing, providing high quality attractions, and investing in the conservation and preservation of its natural and heritage assets, with a resulting contribution to the economy of the region.

Skills and Experience

You must believe that the safety of yourself and customers is paramount every minute of every day when you are on shift.

You’ll be an outstanding communicator—naturally assertive and confident, yet an open and attentive listener.

You’ll be able to express yourself clearly to a variety of people from different walks of life and countries, including those who may not speak any English.

You must have a good level of fitness and enjoy working from heights.

You will be able to demonstrate an absolute passion for the outdoors and be happy to work outside in all weather conditions.
