Our client, a leading, independent certification body, requires the services of experienced, tertiary qualified personnel to conduct domestic and international assessments.

The role focusses on the delivery of technical assessments of current and applicant firms seeking certification to supply their product to the relevant Australian and New Zealand standard.

Key Responsibilities

· Conduct technical assessments of applicant firms as Lead Assessor or Support Assessor against the requirements of AS/NZS steel Standards

· Review quality assurance and process manuals and procedures, including product test data

· Carry out a range of inspection activities (possibly including overseas sites)

· Undertake audits of independent test laboratories (NATA, or approved facilities)

· Supervise product sampling and testing

· Interpret test results

· Produce detailed assessment reports and recommendations

· Assist ongoing review and development of audit procedures

Selection Criteria

· Tertiary degree qualified (or equivalent) engineer or metallurgist in a relevant branch of engineering, metallurgy, or materials science

· Direct experience of product manufacture and quality assurance of steel construction materials

· Minimum of ten years relevant industry experience

· Understanding of, and familiarity with AS/NZS steel Standards, and associated industry specifications and practices

· Demonstrated facility with MS Word and Excel

· Good verbal and written communication skills essential

· Must be able to work independently within a professional team

· Must possess Australian work rights

The part-time nature of the work of the assessor, combined with the possibility of overseas travel, makes for a very interesting work / life balance.

Remuneration and benefits reflect this.

Whilst there is no minimum time commitment, current team members may work anywhere between say 40 to 100 hours per month on average (including travel). This can flex up and down depending on the needs of the business and the individual assessor.

Assessors are able to undertake much of the report writing activity from home and candidates from across Australia are invited to apply.
