Support young people to stabilise, reconnect and thrive

ICYS is seeking a Case Manager to join PIVOT — a new specialised learning and engagement program supporting young people aged 10–16 who have disengaged from mainstream education and may be connected with the youth justice system.

This role provides holistic, youth-led, trauma-informed case management, helping young people strengthen life skills, stabilise their circumstances, build identity and wellbeing, and transition successfully back to education, training or employment pathways.

About ICYS

Since 1983, ICYS Ipswich Community Youth Service has supported children, young people and families across Ipswich and surrounding regions. We deliver youth support, education engagement, specialist youth justice programs, homelessness & accommodation support, vocational pathways and recreation programs.

PIVOT continues this work by offering flexible, culturally safe pathways to learning for young people who need a fresh start and a fair chance.

About the role

The Case Manager works alongside the Program Coordinator, Lead Educator, Cultural Connector and Education Support Youth Workers to provide wrap-around support addressing safety, wellbeing, education and future planning.

You will support young people to build routines, life skills, emotional regulation and confidence, while strengthening family and cultural connection and coordinating services around them.

A key focus of the role is supporting young people through transitions — from initial engagement to readiness, and into school, training, community or employment pathways, with follow-up support after transition.

What you’ll do

Provide youth-led case management and goal planning

Conduct needs and strengths assessments and develop support plans

Support identity, belonging, life skills, safety and personal development

Engage families, carers and kin early and provide practical supports

Navigate and coordinate services around the young person (Youth Justice, schools, Child Safety, health, training providers, cultural organisations)

Advocate for young people across systems and support their self-advocacy

Assist young people to develop routines and skills for learning and transitions

Support program delivery and off-site activities as required

Maintain accurate notes, risk plans and reporting

Participate in reflective practice, supervision and professional development

What we’re looking for

Qualification in Youth Work, Social Work, Community Services or related field

Experience supporting young people with complex needs and challenging behaviours

Ability to engage and collaborate with families, kin and community networks

Knowledge of trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice

Strong communication, advocacy and coordination skills

Collaborative team member with calm, strengths-focused approach

Highly regarded: experience with Youth Justice, child protection, education re-engagement or community development settings.

Mandatory requirements

Current Blue Card (or ability to obtain)

National Criminal History Check (≤6 months)

Current First Aid Certificate (or ability to obtain)

Current Driver's Licence

Employment Details

Hours: 75 hrs/fortnight (pt considered)

Term: Until 30 June 2028, subject to funding continuation

Location: ICYS Ipswich Youth Hub / ICYS Head Office

Award & Benefits: SCHADS Level 4 + leave loading, super & salary packaging up to $15,900 tax-free

Why join us?

This is an opportunity to support young people at a pivotal point in their lives, helping them build stability, hope and future opportunity in a new, purpose-driven program.

You’ll join a passionate, supportive team dedicated to creating meaningful change for young people in Ipswich.
