The role
Reporting into the Manager, Complex Development Services the Senior Land Development Specialist is responsible for processing land development and building applications associated with larger developments and subdivisions.
You'll be working in our Development Services Division, a fast paced, dynamic and rewarding environment, where we work together to provide timely and sustainable outcomes for customers to achieve greater customer and community connection and value.
Your key responsibilities
- Processing land development applications for the subdivision of land, large residential developments, industrial/commercial developments
- Responding to telephone and email enquiries
- Working with metering contractor and internal departments to resolve enquiries relevant to the land development applications
- Providing advice on land development, plumbing requirements, pricing and subdivision matters for developments within Yarra Valley Water's area
- Supporting customers with their enquiries so that they understand the requirements for their development
Who are we looking for?
We're seeking a customer-focused individual who's passionate about bringing land development projects to life. If you're someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is committed to continuous improvement, we'd love to hear from you!
To be successful in this role, you'll ideally bring:
- Proven experience in delivering outstanding customer service
- The ability to interpret and review various types of plans (e.g., site/elevation, hydraulic) to support land development applications
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working alongside senior management, customers, consultants, contractors, regulators, and committees
- Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence in handling both inbound development enquiries and outbound customer calls
- High-level time management, and communication skills, attention to detail with proficiency in Microsoft Office
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- A background in land development is advantageous but not essential - full training will be provided
- Confidence in navigating and using multiple systems to manage tasks and workflows
- Demonstrated ability to work within established guidelines and regulations, while also applying critical thinking and sound judgment in ambiguous situations to develop innovative, outcome-focused solutions for customers and Yarra Valley Water
