I am recruiting for an experienced Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Specialist based at the southern end of the Gold Coast, with regular travel across multiple sites in the area.
This role is an exciting opportunity for a safety professional who is passionate about fostering a culture of safety and ensuring compliance across diverse environments, including residential villages, community care and shared services.
About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Developing and managing WHS frameworks and management systems across multiple sites, ensuring compliance with all relevant WHS legislation in QLD, NSW, VIC, and SA.
- Leading the implementation and monitoring of WHS policies to maintain high standards of safety and reduce risks.
- Driving a strong safety culture across the organisation, engaging with employees, volunteers, and leadership to create an environment that prioritises safety, wellbeing, and continuous improvement.
- Conducting regular site audits and risk assessments, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing safety controls to manage potential hazards.
- Designing and delivering WHS education and training programs to ensure all staff and volunteers are well-equipped to manage health and safety risks effectively.
- Engaging with stakeholders at all levels, from frontline staff to senior executives, to ensure WHS initiatives are understood and embedded in day-to-day operations.
- Reporting directly to executive leadership, providing insights on WHS performance, identifying opportunities for improvement, and contributing to strategic safety initiatives.
- Leading emergency management practices and developing proactive strategies to address occupational violence and other workplace risks.
- Continuously improving WHS systems and practices, fostering a culture of innovation and safety excellence.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a passionate Workplace Health & Safety Specialist who brings:
- Cert IV in Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) or similar qualification.
- At least 3 years of experience managing WHS across multiple sites (a must), and open to industry experience.
- Proven experience in developing and managing WHS frameworks and management systems across diverse environments.
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia.
- Demonstrated ability to drive a positive safety culture, engaging with employees and leadership to prioritise safety and wellbeing.
- Experience designing and delivering WHS education and training programs to ensure compliance and improve safety awareness.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence and communicate effectively with empathy and compassion with all levels of the organisation, including senior executives to ground staff, to residents.
- Experience with emergency management and occupational violence prevention.
- A self-motivated individual with the ability to manage a flexible schedule and work autonomously.
