In this role, you will:

  • Lead two specialist groups of staff within the Development Branch who safeguard the technical integrity and effectiveness of Australia's largest energy efficiency program scheme.
  • Provide technical and operational leadership to ensure robust, transparent and efficient assessment processes that support program integrity, innovation, and delivery of greenhouse gas abatement outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively across the division to optimise outcomes, drive continuous improvement, and contribute to organisational change initiatives that enhance the effectiveness of regulatory administration of the program and market operations.

Position details

The position is responsible for:

This position will lead and support two specialist teams responsible for assessing energy-efficient products and project-based activities under the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program. You'll guide the team's performance, development and workload to help foster a collaborative and high-performing culture.

You will provide expert technical advice to internal and external stakeholders, contribute to program improvements and reforms whilst ensuring assessments are delivered accurately and on time. The role also involves driving continuous improvement in processes and systems, supporting integration across VEU teams and communicating complex technical information to support decision-making.

This is a fixed term position until August 2027 for 18 months. The work location for this position is 570 Bourke Street, Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.

The Essential Services Commission is Victoria's independent economic regulator of essential services supplied by a range of industries. The commission's functions include:

  • making regulatory decisions with respect to prescribed industries (including price determinations, licensing, customer protection and access disputes).
  • undertaking reviews and providing advice to Ministers on a range of economic and regulatory matters.
  • administering the Victorian Energy Upgrades program.
