Are you a workplace relations professional who thrives on solving complex challenges and shaping fair, inclusive work environments? Do you enjoy partnering with stakeholders to create meaningful change and ensure compliance with evolving industrial frameworks?
We’re looking for a Consultant (Workplace Relations) to join our Workplace Relations Team at UniSQ—where people are at the heart of everything we do. Under the guidance of the Director (Workplace Relations and Operations), you’ll play a key role in shaping a modern, compliant workplace relations framework at UniSQ. You’ll provide timely, expert advice on complex matters, helping to reduce industrial risk and build understanding of statutory obligations across the University. Your strong interpersonal, analytical, and negotiation skills will enable you to resolve issues with confidence, communicate clearly, and foster trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
In 2025, UniSQ took bold steps to reshape our organisation for the future. Looking ahead to 2026, we’ll be re-writing and re-negotiating our Enterprise Agreement.
This is your opportunity to contribute to a modern workplace relations strategy that supports our mission to transform lives and solve the problems that matter.
What you’ll do
As a key member of our Workplace Relations team, you’ll:
- Provide expert advice on complex workplace and industrial relations matters, including grievances, performance, and conduct issues.
- Support the Enterprise Bargaining team—participating in negotiations and drafting the Enterprise Agreement.
- Collaborate with senior leaders on compliance initiatives, including pay compliance and policy implementation.
- Interpret and apply the University’s Enterprise Agreement and relevant legislation.
- Prepare high-quality reports and develop training materials to build capability across the University.
- Represent UniSQ externally and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
What will help you succeed
You’ll bring:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in law, employment relations, human resources, or industrial relations.
- Proven experience in workplace relations within the private or public sector.
- A strong understanding of the Australian industrial relations framework, including legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- A commitment to fostering a respectful and inclusive workplace culture.
This role offers the chance to work on high-impact projects, build strong relationships across the University, and contribute to a values-driven organisation.
For more information, please contact Jacinta Forsyth, Director (Workplace Relations and Operations), on +61 7 3470 4168 or email [email protected].
At UniSQ, we value diversity and strive to foster an inclusive environment that champions respect, integrity, and excellence. We understand that careers may be placed on hold or limited throughout many life circumstances, and we welcome applications from all diversity groups.
To be considered for this position, you will need to have the right to work in Australia.
To apply, please submit your current resume and a two-page statement outlining your skills and experience relative to ‘Who we’re looking for’ in the position description.
Applications close: Sunday, 16 November 2025 @ 11.30pm (AEST)
