The Opportunity

As we continue to grow, we’re seeking an experienced and motivated Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in our ongoing success and contribute to AJL’s reputation for quality service, reliability, and technical excellence.

As a Heavy Diesel Mechanic with AJL Heavy Equipment, you’ll have the opportunity to join our Melbourne team at either of our established branches; Truganina or Port Melbourne, depending on your skills and interests.

Truganina Branch: Focused on highway trucks and transport equipment, this branch offers hands-on work with diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance of heavy vehicles and diesel engines.

Port Melbourne Branch: Specialising in container-handling equipment and port-based machinery, this site provides variety and technical challenge in a dynamic stevedoring environment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance on diesel engines, heavy commercial vehicles, and equipment

Implement and uphold workshop protocols relating to safety, efficiency, and quality standards

Carry out diagnostics and troubleshooting with precision and attention to detail

Mentor junior mechanics and contribute to a supportive, high-performing team culture

Collaborate with the Workshop Manager to ensure smooth daily operations

Stay up to date with industry developments and apply best practices

About You

Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent

Strong diagnostic and repair capabilities with solid knowledge of diesel and electronic systems

Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills

Safety-focused, proactive, and eager to grow with a dynamic team

Current driver’s licence and reliable transport

HR licence desirable, but not essential
