About the role
You will play a pivotal role in enhancing access and participation for students with disabilities by delivering expert support in assistive and accessible technologies. This position requires a high level of professional judgement, diagnostic skills, and planning capabilities to deliver tailored training, develop resources, and evaluate emerging technologies.
You will:
- design and deliver tailored training for students in the use of assistive technologies (e.g. screen readers, speech-to-text, captioning, notetaking tools);
- facilitate workshops, drop-in sessions, and online learning to build digital accessibility skills;
- provide training and advice to staff on accessibility tools and digital inclusion practices and represent Accessibility Services in cross-university forums, committees, and projects; and
- support the management of assistive technology inventories, licences, and troubleshooting.
About you
You will have expertise in designing and delivering tailored training, and contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement of digital inclusion practices. In addition you will also ensure compliance with relevant legislation and have experience maintaining accurate records of student interactions, technologies, and outcomes.
You will possess:
- strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff;
- high level problem solving skills, with a focus on practical and innovative solutions;
- excellent written and verbal communication skills, including resource development;
- strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities; and
- commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusive practice in higher education.
