Your opportunity
As Senior Technical and Laboratory Officer (Bioscience), you will play a pivotal role in the Faculty of Health supporting the operation of our bioscience, clinical and health laboratories. You will use your deep bioscience knowledge and technical expertise to ensure the safe, efficient and compliant running of laboratory environments - supporting teaching, research and clinical simulation.

- Supporting GMO containment and incident response, ensuring adherence to the Gene Technology Act, OGTR guidelines and risk management procedures
- Applying your technical expertise in instrumentation, calibration and laboratory systems to optimise performance and data integrity
What you will bring
You’re an experienced laboratory professional who thrives in a dynamic bioscience or clinical environment. With strong technical acumen and a commitment to compliance and safety, you take pride in supporting high-quality learning and research outcomes.
To succeed in this role, you will also need:
- A degree in Biomedical Science/Medical Laboratory Science, with significant experience in a bioscience laboratory environment
- Proven expertise in laboratory software, instrumentation and calibration, and the ability to apply mechanical and electronic technologies to support research and teaching
- Demonstrated practical experience applying OGTR and IBC compliance, including experience working in PC2 facilities and supporting audits, certifications and documentation
- Experience applying or adapting emerging biomedical technologies in an educational or research environment
- It’s not essential, but we’d love it if you had knowledge of relevant Australian Standards referenced by OGTR
