Retail Sales Assistant – Casual

Join the team at IGA Xpress New Norfolk

We’re looking for a reliable, capable and customer-focused Retail Sales Assistant to join our team at IGA Xpress New Norfolk.
This is a casual position with regular rostered shifts designed to support the store during busy periods.

Along with helping run the store day-to-day, you’ll also be hands-on in our takeaway section, preparing and serving customer favourites like chips, burgers, potato cakes and more. We’re after people who can think on their feet, take pride in their work and deliver excellent service — every shift.

What you’ll be doing

Delivering outstanding customer service with a smile

Preparing and serving food in the takeaway area (training provided)

Restocking shelves and merchandising products

Operating the register and handling transactions accurately

Maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming store environment

Following food safety and hygiene standards

Working closely with the Store Manager and the team to keep things running smoothly

What we’re looking for

Previous experience in retail, hospitality or customer service is a bonus (but not essential)

Friendly, reliable and genuinely customer-focused attitude

Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team

Able to handle cash and payments accurately under pressure

Dependable, with good attention to detail and personal accountability

Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and public holidays

Willingness to learn, pitch in, and take initiative
