The Opportunity
In this newly created Fixed Term Contract role, we are excited to welcome our newest member to our R&D Team based in our busy Ingleburn Manufacturing site as our R&D Technologist. This is a hands-on role and is an excellent opportunity for someone who is in an R&D technician role who is looking for career development in the Compliance Space.

Reporting to the Group Regulatory Affairs Manager with a dotted line to our Head of Safety and Quality ANZ, the R&D Technologist is responsible for supporting the Research & Development team while supporting the effective implementation and ongoing maintenance of regulatory compliance activities across the organization.

More specifically, you will support new product launches, upcoming AS5812 changes, and capture and implement any new standards that affect our products. This is a wonderfully broad role where you will bring your experience within FMCG/Food Manufacturing and knowledge of how compliance works into a team that is hands one and fast paced!

What you will be doing:

  • Champion Regulatory Compliance and Standards Management by ensuring all company policies, procedures, and product development processes align with current regulatory standards and industry best practices.

  • Support Product Development Activities by working closely with cross-functional teams—including R&D, Quality Assurance, and Operations—to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, proactively identify and resolve compliance risks, and support product innovation within a compliant framework.

  • Anchor Quality Systems and Continuous Improvement Practices by providing leadership and guidance to quality and compliance team members in areas such as good manufacturing practices (GMP), good laboratory practices (GLP), good documentation practices (GDP), and supports the maintenance of the site’s Quality Management System (QMS), HACCP, and SQF programs.

What will help you succeed in this role:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience within technical teams in the food industry. Please note, this isn't a management role.
  • Experience in various systems and standards such as HACCP, BRC, SQF as well as Quality Documentation.
  • PetCare experience and product compliance would be key benefit
  • Tertiary qualification in food science / related agricultural science or relevant industry experience and training (ie HACCP)
  • Excellent people skills and mathematical & communication skills, both written and oral
  • Must have full working rights (Australian or NZ Citizen or PR)
  • This is not a lab-based role. You will be out and about on site working with our Production lines and Operations team as well as our NPD and Brand Operations teams to ensure compliance is met.

About Real Pet Food Company

Crows Nest, NSW, Australia

A REAL AUSSIE HERITAGE WITH A GLOBAL VISION

Two generations ago, a hard working family with a vision started making pet food in a shed in Queensland. Over two decades later, with backing from one of ANZ’s leading private equity firms, Quadrant Private Equity, we’ve grown to multiple manufacturing sites across Australia and we are making headway into global markets including the US and China.

As we continue our transition, from iconic family-owned brands like VIP Pet Food to a global company with a portfolio of high-profile brands, we also continue to seek like-minded independent companies to join us on our journey.
