ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES OPERATIVE
About the role
Port Pirie Regional Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Environmental Services Operative to join our team on a full-time basis. This role will play a crucial part in maintaining the environmental cleanliness and sustainability of our local community. The position will assist with and ensure the smooth, safe and efficient operation of the Waste Site and weighbridges in accordance with statutory controls. Control vehicle movements, ensure the safety of, and provide advice/assistance to the public, control waste levels and ensure all site users obey the site rules. Providing a high level of customer service to users of Council’s Waste Site, ensuring all are greeted courteously and efficiently.
Depending upon qualifications, skills and knowledge, remuneration will be between Grade 5 and 6 of the Local Government Employees Award and Council's associated Enterprise Agreement. Employees engaged at the Waste Transfer Station will be placed on a roster that consists of 10 days on and 4 days off per fortnight cycle with appropriate loadings applied.
About you
To be considered for this position, you must have:
Sound knowledge of construction and maintenance techniques as appropriate to Council’s civil infrastructure
Knowledge of local government operations
Knowledge of good customer service principles and practices
Experience in relevant plant and machinery used in construction and maintenance
Experience in concreting works would be beneficial along with experience in plant/grader operations
Knowledge of waste collection/disposal and transfer station operations, including weighbridge operations
Certificate III in Civil Construction is desirable
First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain
It is desirable that you have appropriate qualifications to operate plant and machinery
Ability to work in a team environment
