About the Role
This is a technical and advisory role suitable for a graduate through to an experienced civil engineering professional who will assess development proposals, provide expert engineering advice, and help shape the infrastructure that supports Shoalhaven's growing communities. Working within the Development Services team, you'll help shape the future of Shoalhaven's urban and regional environments by supporting high-quality, sustainable development outcomes. In this role, you will:
- Assess and process engineering plans for developments including roads, stormwater systems, bridges, and traffic facilities.
- Provide technical advice and support to internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Inspect civil engineering works and ensure compliance with development conditions and Council standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and operational efficiency within the Development Engineering team.
- Report to the Lead - Development Engineering and collaborate closely with the Development Engineering Coordinator.

This is a grade range position, therefore in accordance with qualifications, accreditation, experience and demonstrated skills, the prospective employee will be assessed as either Grade 10, 11 or 12.
Grade 10 - $91,148 - $105,698 gross p.a. plus 12% super
Grade 11 - $99,775 - $113,318 gross p.a. plus 12% super
Grade 12 - $105,927 - $120,707 gross p.a. plus 12% super
The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.
About You
To be successful in the position, you will have:
- Experience in the design of civil engineering works, particularly stormwater drainage and road construction
- Experience in development engineering assessment and development referral advice
- Current NSW WorkSafe Construction Induction/ Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry qualification (White Card)
- Current Class C Driver's Licence
- Proof of Australian residency or citizenship, or authority to work in Australia (visa)

Diploma in Civil Engineering, Surveying or equivalent
AND
A minimum of 2 years engineering experience
Diploma in Surveying, Civil Engineering or equivalent
OR
Minimum 2 years completed of a Bachelor of Engineering (or equivalent)
AND
A minimum of 4 years engineering experience
Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) eligible for membership of the Institute of Engineers, Australia.
AND
A minimum of 5 years engineering experience
