An exciting opportunity awaits a Medical Receptionist to join our dynamic professional team at Sunshine Specialist Suites from January 2026.
About Sunshine Specialist Suites: Located in Birtinya, Sunshine Specialist Suites is a modern multi-specialty specialist center that offers consultations, investigations, procedures and allied health therapies on site. We have a dedicated team of surgeons, physiotherapists and occupational therapists who pride themselves in providing compassionate patient care in a positive and caring environment. We are committed to providing high-quality care to our patients in a friendly and professional environment.
The successful applicant will be able to work well in a team and independently and have a positive and friendly attitude. Previous experience as a medical receptionist is highly desirable. Previous experience in Surgical booking and liaising with hospitals is preferred. Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and attention to detail is essential. The position is for 3-4 days per week, with the possibility of full-time work in the near future.
The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Meet and greet patients at reception
Processing payments during consulting sessions
Professional and friendly handling of telephone calls
Scheduling patient appointments
Scanning clinical documents into patient files
Preparing and maintaining consulting rooms and waiting rooms
Providing general administrative support to the staff
The ideal candidate will have:
Previous experience as a medical receptionist ideally in a surgical practice.
A minimum of 2+ years' experience working as a medical receptionist.
Experience in using medical practice management software, especially the use of Genie/Gentu/Medical Director - Blu Chip and/or Xestro. Whilst experience with this software is highly desirable, the successful candidate will be trained in its use by experienced staff.
A compassionate, courteous and friendly manner
Ability to work independently and also in a team environment
Experience with the use of Microsoft Word and Outlook
Awareness of the importance of confidentiality with regards to patient files
Punctual, well-presented and shows initiative
Willing and able to learn and develop the necessary skills required to fulfil the role (an essential quality)
