St John of God Geelong Hospital St John of God Hospital Geelong is a 253 bed hospital and is recognised as the leading provider of private health care in the Barwon and South-Western region. The hospital provides a range of services including an emergency department, day surgery, medical, surgical and maternity services, along with a 24 hour critical care unit and Cath Lab services.

Your role at St John of God Geelong Hospital

You will act as a responsible and effective team member and will assist in the overall clinical management of the ward. As an ANUM, you will be responsible for the provision of comprehensive patient care and supervision of care given by junior staff, as well as deputising for and assisting the Nursing Unit Manager. This position is available with our Day Surgery Unit.

Our Day Surgery offers exposure to a range of specialities including General Surgery, Urology, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Dental, Plastics, ENT (involving a large number of Paediatrics) and Vascular. In addition, our Day Surgery Unit also accommodates pre & post-operative Cardiac Cath Lab patients, largely focusing on diagnostic angiograms

The Position

  • Assists the Nursing Unit Manager in collection of audits, statistics, staff performance management and productivity analysis data.
  • Monitors staff levels against budget/target levels related to number of bed days, occupancy and patient acuity. Adjusts staffing levels in consultation with the Unit Manager and/or Coordinator according to changes in levels.
  • Assists the Nursing Unit Manager in identifying resource needs and developing budgets and operational plans.
  • Discusses any concerns regarding patients and staff with Nursing Unit Manager/Coordinator grievances, difficulties etc.
  • Responsible for assisting the Nurse Unit Manager in following issues pertaining to human resources within the department and will assume full responsibility in the absence of the Nurse Unit Manager.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of/and functions in accordance with legislation and common law affecting nursing practice and acknowledges accountability/responsibility for own actions

You will hold registration with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and have well developed analytical and problem-solving skills and knowledge of acts and legislation that impact on the practice of nursing. You will have a demonstrated ability to develop and build effective nursing, medical and interdisciplinary relationships and teams.

We can offer youSalary: $115,908 to $119,811 (pro rata for part time) per annum plus 12% superannuation
