Operations Manager
The Next Step Recovery & Wellness Centre – Epping, VIC
Part-time (3-Month Probation) Transitioning to Full-time | Lead with Purpose | Inclusive Wellness & Recovery
The Next Step Recovery & Wellness Centre (TNS) is a not-for-profit organisation redefining what recovery and wellness look like in Australia. Our mission is to create inclusive, empowering, and evidence-based pathways that support people living with spinal cord injuries and neurological conditions to move, grow, and thrive.
We're now entering an exciting new chapter — extending our services to the general public and launching our fully accessible Gym and Recovery Zone, complete with sauna, ice bath, compression therapy, and more. To help lead this next phase, we're seeking a dynamic and values-driven Operations Manager to join our leadership team.
About the Role
The Operations Manager will play a central role in ensuring the smooth, efficient, and compliant operation of our multidisciplinary recovery and wellness centre.
You'll work closely with the Executive Director to manage daily operations, support staff performance, oversee compliance with funding bodies, and drive the growth of our new Gym and Recovery Zone. As we expand our services to the wider community, you'll play a key role in ensuring our facility operates seamlessly, safely, and sustainably.
This position will commence as a part-time role for a 3-month probationary period, with the intention to transition into full-time employment following successful completion of probation and performance review.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily operations of the centre, including the Gym and Recovery Zone.
Lead, mentor, and support a multidisciplinary team of allied health professionals and support staff.
Facilitate regular staff supervision sessions and reflective practice meetings to support professional growth and wellbeing.
Manage and ensure compliance with all funding bodies and regulatory frameworks, including NDIS, TAC, WorkCover, DVA, Medicare, and Private Health.
Drive operational excellence through effective systems, budgets, rostering, and process improvement.
Collaborate with the Executive Director to deliver strategic projects and community initiatives.
Oversee facility management, WHS, and equipment maintenance.
Support business development, partnerships, and funding opportunities that align with TNS's mission.
Foster a positive workplace culture grounded in inclusion, teamwork, and trauma-informed care.
About You
You're a confident, people-focused leader who thrives in a fast-paced, community-driven environment. You understand the nuances of working within the NDIS and health sectors and have a natural ability to bring structure, stability, and heart to every project you lead.
Essential:
Demonstrated experience in operations management within the health, disability, or wellness sector.
A minimum of 2 years of operations management experience is required.
Strong working knowledge and understanding of NDIS, Medicare, and Private Health systems, and related frameworks (TAC, DVA, WorkCover).
Proven experience in leadership, people management, and facilitating staff supervision sessions.
Solid understanding of compliance, risk management, and organisational systems.
Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on day-to-day operations.
Passion for health, wellness, inclusion, and positive change.
Must hold a Working with Children Check, First Aid, and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
Desirable:
Background in allied health, rehabilitation, or community services.
Experience managing wellness or fitness facilities.
Understanding of trauma-informed practice and person-centred service design.
Why Join Us?
At TNS, you'll be part of something bigger. We're a values-led, community-driven organisation where every team member makes a tangible difference.
Lead operations in a state-of-the-art wellness facility with a national reputation for innovation.
Work directly with a lived-experience Executive Director driving change in accessible recovery.
Play a key role in the launch and growth of the Recovery Zone and Gym, and in the extension of services to the general public.
Facilitate team development and reflective practice to strengthen staff wellbeing and performance.
Join a supportive, collaborative team who share your passion for impact.
Enjoy flexible working hours as the Gym expands its opening times and services.
Grow into a full-time leadership position following the 3-month probationary period.
