About the Role

The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining and supporting the NSW Electoral Commission’s network infrastructure, ensuring our network is reliable, secure and scalable to meet our needs.

We are seeking someone with strong technical skills and experience to support existing network infrastructure and assist with various network uplift projects within the Technology group. This is an exciting time to spread your wings and continue to build on your expertise.

The role is an Ongoing Full-time position.

Key knowledge, experience and essential requirements

As the successful candidate, you will have:

  • Extensive experience in and expert knowledge of configuring and supporting complex hybrid cloud infrastructure (e.g. public cloud in Azure), local area and wide area networks (including site to site VPN and SD WAN networks) and on-prem network infrastructure technologies and tools (firewalls, switches, access points, routers and load balancers), including relevant qualifications such as CISCO or CCNA, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Proven experience with network security technology and tools, including VPN technologies, Network Access Control (NAC) aligned with Zero Trust architecture, Identity and Access Control, IPS/IDS, web security gateway, Next-Generation Firewalls, SIEM tools and vulnerability assessment tools.
  • Experience in managing network infrastructure that supports cloud-based phone systems (e.g. MS Teams platform) and contact centre management systems (e.g. Nice CXOne).
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in information technology or related fields and/or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Politically neutral with no current or past affiliation to political parties or lobbyists/campaigners
  • Satisfactory criminal record check result.
