Calvin Christian School is a co-educational, independent Kindergarten – Year 12 Christian school located in Kingston, with a current enrolment of 800+ students. Calvin is part of Christian Schools Tasmania.

Christian Schools Tasmania is an Association of Christians that owns and operates four Christian Schools in the Greater Hobart Area – Calvin Christian School, Channel Christian School, Emmanuel Christian School and Northern Christian School. Each school has a Principal who is responsible for the educational leadership and management of the school.

About this position

Chaplain, part-time position for 18 hours (3 days) per week (negotiable) in school term time. This position commences in January 2026.

The Chaplain at Calvin Christian School is vital in the life of the school.

Their role is to contribute to the spiritual and emotional wellbeing of the school community.

They listen, support and encourage students.

They show and share their faith.

They build relationships with students (and staff). They are a trusted adult in the playground and in the classroom.

They provide a listening ear and a caring presence for kids and those who just need a friend or want to share what's happening in their lives.

They also provide support for staff and parents in school communities.

They may work with one student, pairs or small groups.

They provide activities to foster friendships and community.

There is a clear link with our Counsellor in managing the needs of our students.

Skills and experience

Essential Requirements

Registration to Work with Vulnerable People.

Certificate IV in Youth Work; or

Certificate IV in Pastoral Care; or

An equivalent qualification and

this Certificate or equivalent qualification must include competencies in 'mental health' and 'making appropriate referrals'
