About the role:
The State Emergencies and Support Command (SESC) drives Victoria Police's strategic agenda and operational response for emergency management, custodial management, events management and operational communications.
Reporting to the Senior Procurement and Contracts Manager, the VPSG-4 Procurement/Contract Practitioner is responsible for custody and emergency management related contracts and is critical to the impending contract variations, negotiations and Tender related activities. Working in a small high achieving team, this is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills and experience.

Your duties will include:
- Manage and lead procurements, ensuring procurement compliance and value for money outcomes,
- Provide authoritative expert advice and guidance on Victorian Government and Victoria Police procurement practice, policy and process to the Command,
- Establish and maintain a strong effective working relationship with key stakeholders,
- Manage the ongoing procurement activities across the current and future SESC contracts,
- Manage and monitor contractual obligations, compliance, performance reviews and commercial analysis of current SESC contracts,
- Participate in contract negotiations as necessary, and/or ensure relevant records of negotiated outcomes are maintained and actioned,
- Ensure financial management compliance and undertake regular analysis of budget, IOA and expenditure,
- Ensure regular administrative governance and reporting on contracts performance.
As the successful applicant, you will have:
- Proven understanding of the public sector procurement framework, policy and practice,
- Well-developed knowledge of and practical commercial exposure to complex procurement, contract and/or financial management practices,
- Well-developed planning, prioritisation and management skills,
- Well-developed analytical and conceptual skills with experience in high level written and oral advice on a diverse range of complex procurement issues,
- Ability to work in an interactive environment with minimal supervision,
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements and relevant information:
- One (1) x fixed term position available for 12 months
- This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
- Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
- The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
