Position Summary

We are looking for a passionate and driven Graduate / Mid-Level Software Engineer to join our engineering team at Permaconn. In this role, you will contribute to the development and support of our OSPAT Industrial Safety and Fire Alarm Monitoring solutions—technologies that play a critical role in protecting people and property across industrial and commercial environments.

This is a hands-on position ideal for someone early in their software engineering career who wants to work on meaningful projects involving cloud platforms, embedded systems, IoT and real-time monitoring. You'll be supported by a team of experienced engineers and have the opportunity to grow your skills while working on products deployed across Australia, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain software for safety and monitoring systems (OSPAT & Fire Monitoring).

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, cloud, mobile, and UI/UX).

Work across the full stack — from embedded devices to cloud services and web dashboards.

Write clean, well-documented, and testable code.

Contribute to system integration, testing, and deployment processes.

Assist in maintaining technical documentation and compliance requirements.

Key Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g. C/C++, Delphi, JavaScript (React), SQL database).

Familiarity with version control (e.g. Git) and collaborative development workflows.

Interest in IoT, embedded systems, or cloud-based applications.

Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.

Australian work rights (citizenship or PR required).

Desirable (not essential)

Experience with MQTT, REST APIs, or Azure/AWS IoT platforms.

Experience with Linux operating systems

Exposure to embedded Linux or microcontroller programming.

Basic understanding of networking concepts, telemetry protocols, and safety critical applications
