About the Role

The City’s Health and Compliance Services team has an opportunity for a Swimming Pool Inspector to join our Swimming Pool/Spa Safety Barrier Inspection team. There are currently over 18,000 private swimming pools within the City of Wanneroo boundaries and our team of Swimming Pool Inspectors have the important responsibility of undertaking safety inspections of pool and spa barriers.

This busy team undertake between 4,000-5,000 inspections annually, ensuring the compliance of pool and spa barriers with relevant legislation.

Relevant training and support will be provided to the successful candidates. The ability to read and interpret construction plans and related documentation will be well regarded. As will those possessing effective, clear, and concise written and interpersonal skills including excellent customer service skills.

As a collaborative member of the Health and Compliance Team the position contributes to ensuring the regulation and safety of all privately owned swimming pools within the City of Wanneroo.

You will be responsible for:
• Managing daily appointments and conducting thorough inspections of private swimming pool barriers, to assess compliance with the Building Act 2011, Building Regulations 2012, and relevant Australian Standards to support the safety of the community.
• Prepare, maintain, and meticulously document accurate records utilising mobile technology related to private swimming pool barriers and their condition.
• Provide expert information and technical advice to residents, builders, fencing companies, landscapers, and other stakeholders regarding swimming pool barriers.
• Problem-solve and provide advice while issuing notices related to swimming pool barriers.
• Adherence to City and service unit systems and processes

About You
The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player that enjoys a fast-paced work environment and liaising with people face-to-face. You will be a ‘people person’ keen to embrace change and the utilisation of mobile technology.

The skills and experience that are required for this position include:
• In-depth knowledge of pool and spa safety regulations is desirable.
• Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with property owners and team members.
• Attention to detail and the ability to identify safety risks.
• Independent work ethic and efficiency.
• Intermediate conflict resolution and problem solving skills.
• Intermediate experience in the efficient utilisation of information systems and technology.
• First Aid Certificate (essential or willing to obtain within a specified time frame)
• Drivers Licence (essential)
• White Card WA (essential or willing to obtain within a specified time frame)
