The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) leads the sustainable development of Western Australia’s regions and agriculture, aquaculture, food and fisheries sectors. In everything we do, we take an approach to protect, grow and innovate WA’s economy, community and environment. To learn more about our department, our team and the work we do, please visit our website.

As a Livestock Compliance Inspector, you will be responsible for undertaking inspections on farms, saleyards and intensive production facilities, conducting investigations that achieve positive animal welfare outcomes. You will monitor and implement compliance activities pursuant to the Animal Welfare Act 2002 and other legislation in relation to livestock including poultry, pigs, cattle, sheep, goats and horses. The role requires the preparation of brief of evidence reports, issuing notices, infringements, warnings, and serving court documents. Engaging and liaising with key stakeholders regarding livestock transport and welfare issues is also an important focus for the role.

The Senior Livestock Compliance Inspector will also undertake these duties, along with assisting in the development of operational policies, procedures and protocols to ensure compliance is maintained. This senior role will also provide regular reports on the achievement of targets and take action to remedy issues that may arise.

Equity and Diversity

At DPIRD we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workforce and are an equal opportunity employer. We value and strongly encourage people with disabilities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, young people, women and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to apply for positions within our agency.
