About the role:
The Waste Transport Officer is a member of a team responsible for leading EPA's regulatory response to waste transport, including administration of Waste Tracker, aligned to EPA's strategic priorities to prevent harms to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste. You will use your initiative to prioritise workflow in supporting the delivery of the waste transport compliance program, aligned to EPA's strategic priorities, to prevent harms to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste.
In this role you will:
- As directed by the Senior Waste Transport Officer (VPS 4), support the delivery of the statewide waste transport compliance program; including administration of Waste Tracker, monitoring and reporting, joint roadside operations, inspections; infringements and other enforcement actions.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of EPA's waste transport policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all legislative and policy requirements.
- Contribute to the conduct of inspections, investigations, and enforcement action by providing information on where potential breaches of environmental laws have occurred, including providing support for summary prosecutions and the Infringements Court, such as the preparation of prosecution briefs and other evidentiary matters.
- Comply with all legislative, policy and process obligations and requirements in the delivery of the waste transport compliance program, achieve the highest standards of performance, accountability, collaboration, ethics, and integrity.
Skills and experience:
- A relevant tertiary degree or qualifications is desirable
- Knowledge of waste transport regulation is desirable.
- Ability to apply relevant government legislation, regulations, reporting directives and procedures, to achieve optimal organisational outcomes.
- An understanding of environmental regulation as it relates to pollution and waste is desirable.
