An advanced technology company in the defence sector is seeking an experienced Verification & Validation (V&V) Manager to lead its expanding V&V function in Sydney. Reporting to the VP of Quality Engineering, this role will be central to strengthening the company’s testing discipline and ensuring product quality across the full development lifecycle.

The successful candidate will manage a multidisciplinary team, evolve processes, and introduce automation and analytical tools that enhance speed, accuracy, and confidence in system performance. The position will also oversee lab operations, test equipment, and verification activities across multiple projects, ensuring full traceability from requirements to validated outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and lead a high-performing Verification & Validation team through recruitment, mentoring, and performance management.
• Define and track KPIs to measure team productivity, quality, and impact.
• Allocate resources and assign priorities across concurrent development programs.
• Evolve existing V&V frameworks, introducing process improvements and automation platforms.
• Oversee management of lab environments, hardware, and test equipment.
• Ensure robust verification and validation plans are developed and executed efficiently.
• Review and approve verification protocols, reports, and documentation.
• Provide visibility to senior leadership on test status, progress, and compliance.
• Introduce data-driven and statistical methods to enhance decision-making and design confidence.
• Ensure complete requirements traceability throughout the development lifecycle.

Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or related engineering discipline.
• 7+ years’ experience in Verification & Validation or test engineering roles, including at least 4 years in a management position.
• Strong command of system-level testing methodologies within complex, regulated environments (defence, aerospace, medical, etc.).
• Proven experience implementing or scaling V&V frameworks and automated test systems.
• Hands-on knowledge of scripting and automation tools (Python, Bash) and Linux-based systems.
• Familiarity with embedded systems, RF sensing, sensor fusion, or signal processing technologies.
• Skilled in modern project and requirements management tools (e.g., Jira, Jama, Confluence).
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams of 10+ engineers and manage multiple simultaneous initiatives.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills under pressure.
