Part/Full time employee
About Activate
Activate Allied Health opened its doors in March 2021. We are advancing the quality of life of our community by building a world where physical, mental and social wellness is accessible, enjoyable and life changing.
Our philosophy for care is founded on innovative, inclusive, and integrated health solutions – bringing together a team of allied professionals to support our clients in their pursuit of a more active life. We specialise in providing care to members from all backgrounds and are privileged to support NDIS pathways.
Our team of allied professionals are a tight knit and fun-loving team, passionate about improving the health of our clients and community. Their commitment and support of our philosophy is critical to our member experience and the impact we make.
We believe achieving the healthiest version of yourself doesn't need to be a grind. We love bringing our members together and cultivating a great social atmosphere.
As our speech pathology team continues to grow, we are looking to expand our depth of experience and seniority, complementing the excellent mentoring already provided by our Clinical Lead, Janine Elias.
About the Role
Activate has an opportunity for an experienced speech pathologist (3+ years) to join our diverse and welcoming team in part-time or full-time capacity!
We want our staff to have balance, the opportunity to learn, and to love what they do.
As part of our allied health team, you will be working a highly diverse caseload involving all ages and abilities (including NDIS, schools and private-paying clientele), ensuring optimal care and outcomes by providing a comprehensive range of speech pathology services based on participant goals.
The role includes:
Forming strong therapeutic relationships with great people in our community in need.
Planning and implementing intervention programs.
Devising therapy programs and supporting families in their implementation of these.
Upholding the highest professional standards and ensuring that every recommendation and program is rooted in science and genuine care. We take pride in our client’s trust, and we honour that trust by always acting with honesty and integrity.
Prescribing and arranging for the provision of appropriate equipment if necessary.
Communicating and collaborating with other members of the team and participating in interdisciplinary clinical and planning activities to enhance the overall service provided to participants.
Documenting assessment findings and interventions.
Making referrals and linking participants/carers with appropriate community resources and services.
Providing leadership and clinical guidance to support our early-career (1st–2nd year) speech pathologists
Staff mentoring – an opportunity to provide 1:1 mentoring and supervision to our speech pathology team, complementing the guidance already offered by our Clinical Lead (5th year+ speechy)
About you:
An accredited Speech Pathologist you are passionate about helping others.
You enjoy working as part of a team - we believe that the best learning environment is one where you can watch others at work. You will be working alongside other EPs and speech pathologists, which allows us all to observe different approaches and learn as we work.
You practice inclusivity, champion and collaborate with your clients (including neurodivergent and clients with disabilities) and are at your best navigating a mixed caseload including paediatric and adult populations, delivered in-clinic, as well as via home and school visits.
You are interested in continuing to build your knowledge and experience as a clinician – accessing regular professional development especially in the field of neuroaffirming practices.
Preferred: experience with both paediatric and adult clients, with specific expertise in adult caseloads, including dysphasia.
You have 3+ years of experience as a speech pathologist and are eager to incorporate staff mentoring and supervision into your clinical role (at 5yrs experience), supporting the growth of the next generation of clinicians
You demonstrate strong leadership qualities, managing your caseload effectively while collaborating with the team and leading by example in both clinical and professional practice
What you need:
To be successful in your application you will need to demonstrate as part of the application process that you hold the following:
Speech Pathology Australia accreditation
Medicare provider number
Registration with Worksafe Victoria
Working with children check (WWCC)
Valid police check
Professional indemnity + public liability insurance
3+ years' experience as a speech pathologist
Our team environment and culture:
Above award rate remuneration + superannuation + all employment benefits (incl. leave)
Varied case load - At Activate we work with all presentations, which we love.
1:1 weekly mentoring with our Clinical Lead Speech pathologist (10+ years experience) - You will be offered scheduled, weekly supervision sessions, as well as peer supervision and a dedicated leadership team who are available to speak with daily for support.
Thorough onboarding process – Highly structured onboarding program with training. 2 weeks of shadowing your team members’ sessions to give you the opportunity to gain an understanding of an Activate speech pathology session and come up with ideas of your own! This will be followed by a gradual build-up of caseload, to give you plenty of time to adapt, and to complete admin.
Professional Development - We value growth, continual improvement, and learning. That's why each year we work out with you where you want to develop, and we contribute the cost towards that.
Team meetings - We have seen how a multidisciplinary approach between 2 complimentary fields can maximise client outcomes and practitioner communication and want to continue to maintain constant case conferencing amongst our team.
Access to resources including assessments and technology.
Cross Employee Bonuses – We believe in recognition for outstanding work and care of clients, and who better to identify this than those within our team (you)! Believe a fellow team member has completed some amazing work? Recognise this with a voucher award.
1/2 day off for birthday
No KPI's! We don't believe in putting this pressure onto our team. Your focus is to support the person in front of you (not the number) and go above and beyond in their care!
Staff mentoring – the opportunity to complement your caseload by providing support and 1:1 supervision to early-career speech pathologists (5th year+ speechy)
