WHO ARE WE?
Established in 1991, Danila Dilba Health Service (DDHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation committed to providing culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care services and community development within the Biluru (Aboriginal) community of the Yilli Rreung (Greater Darwin) Region in the Northern Territory.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Mobile Unit Team Leader is accountable for the supervision and coordination of comprehensive primary health care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders of the Greater Darwin Area presenting within town camps. This role will also provide support to other health workers both within the organisation and the community.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Coordinate the operational and clinical activities of the Mobile Clinic and staff working within this program.
- Maintain and coordinate best practice clinical care.
- Direct supervision of all staff rostered to the Mobile Clinic.
When required:
- Be a first point of clinical contact for clients attending Mobile Clinic within the community, including completing an initial diagnosis, treatment, and referrals as necessary.
- Screen patients and treat according to protocols.
- Help identify 'at risk' clients, e.g., elderly and youth.
- Perform and facilitate adult and child health checks and immunisations.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Aboriginal Health Practitioner with AHPRA.
- Demonstrated experience working within an outreach program.
- Proven ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, communities, and their leaders, respecting traditional culture, values and ways of doing business.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, liaison, negotiation and conflict resolution with people from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds.
- Demonstrated skills to lead and supervise in planning, managing and prioritising tasks and resources to deliver outcomes within time and budget considerations with the ability to work independently when required.
- Demonstrated high level computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Word and Excel (or similar) as well as the ability to use clinical practice software.
- Demonstrated high standard of written skills in the preparation of detailed reports, general correspondence and documentations.
- An understanding of confidentiality.
- Vaccine Certificate relevant to the NT.

EMPLOYMENT IS SUBJECT TO
- Willing to undergo a Police Check.
- Ability and willingness to obtain a Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card).
- Current driver's licence.
- Current CPR certificate or the preparedness to gain one within 6 months of commencement.
- Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or an exemption as listed on the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) be submitted.
- Full rights to work in Australia.
