MyCDP support the Remote Australia Employment Services (RAES) program as well as other community-based programs servicing Ngukurr, Numbulwar, Minyerri, Jilkmingan and Mataranka in the NT, we are seeking to engage a full time WHS Officer to join our highly performing and motivated team, reporting directly to the Operations Manager.

This is a role with real impact and has influence over safety practices that directly improve our team members and improve our working lives.

The role will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of ensuring all employees work in a safe work environment. You will work closely with the CEO as well as the Operations Manager and provide leadership throughout the organisation with a health and safety lens. Within this role you will also be required to implement all health and safety legal requirements and ensure they are being maintained and met within the organisation.

The successful candidate needs to have knowledge and experience working within remote indigenous communities.

Your duties will include:

Maintain a register of accidents and injuries, and provide analysis to Health & Safety Committee meetings

Maintain workplace health and safety documentation and records

Prepare workplace health and safety reports

Conduct workplace risk assessments, document and report on outcomes

Participate in workplace health and safety system audits to ensure compliance with health and safety system and policies

Keep up to date with emerging trends and changes to legislation and regulation and advise management accordingly.

Review and contribute to WHS policy and procedure

Provide advisory, support and audit services to managers that support the planning, development and implementation of the health and safety system

Actively promote the health and safety programs throughout the workplace

Conduct workplace health and safety training and induction for our local community workforce

To be considered for this role, you will meet the following criteria:

Qualifications:

Diploma in Occupational/Work Health and Safety

Certification as a Safety Auditor

Experience:

Experience in the areas of workplace health and safety, risk assessment and workers’ compensation

Competencies (knowledge, skills and behaviors):

Proven ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Ability to write correspondence, reports and submissions, and influence the commitment to health and safety

Proven interpersonal and negotiation skills to manage difficult situations with tact and sensitivity, and ensure a favorable outcome

Proven ability to successfully assist with the development and implementation of health and safety management systems

Ability to evaluate workplace health and safety projects

Ability to liaise effectively with people at all levels

Demonstrated computer literacy

Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and ability to work with minimal supervision

Hold a current ochre card or be able to obtain one.

Obtain a national police clearance
