APS 6 Senior Data Reporting Analyst
Location: All Major Cities
Contract Type: Non-ongoing – 12 Month Contract
Clearance: Must be an Australian Citizen and hold (or be able to obtain) Baseline Security Clearance
We are seeking a skilled Senior Data Reporting Analyst to join a high-performing team within a federal government agency focused on education and training outcomes. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary data and insights team responsible for collecting, analysing, and reporting on sector-wide data to support evidence-based decision-making and regulatory functions.
Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver data products including Power BI dashboards and reports tailored to business needs
• Build and maintain reusable datasets using SQL, Power BI Dataflows, and Datasets, ensuring data integrity
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and design effective data solutions
• Work with data engineers and IT teams to ensure data availability in the warehouse for analysis
• Lead and mentor junior analysts, allocate tasks, and support professional development
• Apply data validation techniques and ensure compliance with governance frameworks
• Conduct advanced analysis including statistical modelling, forecasting, and trend identification
• Promote data literacy and support change management in the adoption of data tools

Skills & Experience

• Strong experience with Power BI, including Dataflows, Datasets, and Star Schema modelling
• Proficient in SQL and integrating data from multiple sources
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices, version control, and Power BI workspace management
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex insights for non-technical audiences
• Proven ability to work independently and lead others through evolving priorities
• Experience working to APS6 standards or equivalent in a government or regulated environment

Desirable

• Knowledge of the vocational education and training (VET) sector or international student sector
• 3+ years in a data and reporting role
• Relevant qualifications in Data Analytics, Computer Science, or Information Technology
