Leading Farm Hand – Mixed Cropping & Sheep Farm

We are seeking a reliable, experienced, and motivated Leading Farm Hand to join our family-owned and operated mixed cropping and sheep farm. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a supportive environment where your input is valued, and your skills are appreciated.
This role is well suited to someone looking to step up into a leading role or step back from farm management.
About Us:
Our farm is a well-established, family-run operation with a strong focus on sustainability, productivity, and animal welfare alongside conservation projects. We grow a variety of broadacre crops and run a quality sheep enterprise, with a passion for producing high-quality outputs while maintaining a great place to live and work. The farm is run alongside Heazlewood Seeds Pty Ltd.
Key Responsibilities:
Working closely with the farm owner to plan and implement day-to-day operations
Operation of tractors and other farm machinery for cultivation, seeding, spreading and general farm duties
Maintenance and operation of pivot and lateral irrigators
Good understanding of farm machinery infrastructure and maintenance
General farm repairs and maintenance, including fencing and infrastructure upkeep
Animal husbandry, including feeding, monitoring livestock health, vaccination and drenching, lambing assistance, and general sheep work
Working with contractors as needed
Maintaining OH&S responsibilities
About You:
Previous experience in a similar role on a mixed farming operation or a proven willingness to learn and take on new skills.
Competent with modern farm machinery and GPS technology
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to carry out machinery maintenance and minor repairs
Strong livestock handling skills and a genuine interest in animal welfare
Reliable, proactive, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team
Show good initiative, communication and problem-solving skills
Current driver’s licence (Fork Lift ticket an advantage)
