Mechanical Apprentice / Trade Assistant

The role will be primarily based at Garden Island Defence Precinct and our Alexandria Workshop, with works also carried out in the Sydney region. There may be the occasional requirement to travel to remote or offshore destinations for testing and service work for short durations, which will be remunerated on top of your hourly rate.

Key Responsibilities:

Support for engineering and repair works on marine vessels and infrastructure plant.

Assist tradesperson with materials and equipment handling and tooling.

Adhere to company safety policies and procedures which include completing JSEA’s, permits to work, Isolations and Risk analysis.

Provide brief notes & photographs of maintenance completed.

Key Requirements & Qualifications:

Undergoing Mechanical Fitter Trade Australian trade course - Desirable.

Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents are required for security requirements.

Strong safety experience.

Must hold or be willing to obtain a General Construction Induction Card (White Card)

Willing to obtain national police certificate for security

Willing to complete drug and alcohol testing

Willing to complete medical testing for basic health, mobility and fitness

Comfortable working independently with the ability to operate and report remotely

Other tickets (e.g. Confined Space, Working Safely at Heights, Rigging, EWP, forklift) would be advantageous.
