About the role

The Spatial Analyst plays a key role in supporting Land Tasmania’s operations and the Land Information System Tasmania (LIST) by delivering expert technical services in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial databases.

In this role you will develop, maintain and enhance desktop, web-based and enterprise GIS systems, as well as contribute to IT projects that improve spatial data delivery and system functionality.

  • Improve business processes and solve technical challenges related to GIS applications.
  • Deliver spatial information services and advice to government clients.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders across government, industry and the public.
  • Stay informed on national and international GIS standards and technologies.

Our ideal candidate has

  • Expertise in GIS/spatial software (especially ESRI suite and FME).
  • Strong knowledge of spatial/IT infrastructure and experience with scripting or coding for GIS applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and confidently through written reports, presentations and verbal advice.
  • Experience in building effective relationships with stakeholders, negotiating outcomes and influencing decisions to support program and service delivery goals.
  • Proven decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Diploma or higher qualification in Geographic Information Science or related field.
