About the role
The Spatial Analyst will design and deliver spatial solutions that support emergency management activities across government agencies, as outlined in the Tasmanian Emergency Management Arrangements. The includes developing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools and products, managing critical spatial datasets, and deploying to Emergency Operation Centres (EOCs) to provide real-time geospatial intelligence during incident response. 
The team’s primary focus is to support the Government’s response to a range of emergencies through the use of spatial capabilities- across all phases of emergency management: preparedness, response and recovery. This role is integral to enabling informed decision-making and effective coordination during major incidents.
Our ideal candidate has
- Experience managing and integrating spatial datasets to support operational decision-making.
 - Technical expertise in GIS systems, spatial databases, and scripting (e.g. ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, FME, Python).
 - Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with emergency services, government agencies, and emergency management stakeholders.
 - Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and respond flexibly in dynamic situations.
 - A collaborative mindset and willingness to support cross-agency, local government and other emergency operations.
