Contract from 11 November 2025 to 3 November 2026 - full time preferred but will consider 4 days working 30.4 hours per week. (Job #01253) (The period of this contract is subject to and in accordance with the parental leave provisions of the Municipal Officers and Nurses Enterprise Agreement)
$108k to 110k + 12% Super – dependent on relevant experience, skills and knowledge
About the Position
Reporting to the Team Leader Marketing and Communications, the Corporate Communications Officer
will be responsible for:
- Leading, developing, implementing and evaluating communications campaigns to promote our services among a broad range of stakeholders (including residents, service partners and other tiers of government).
- Working in close partnership with the social media advisor and online communications officer to develop and implement strategic online communications, including the sourcing and writing of content and the monitoring and analysis of performance.
- Providing project assistance with the ongoing rollout of the organisation’s brand refresh.
- Providing specialist writing and editing advice and support in the development of strategic and corporate documents as required.
- Ensuring that the creative content and production quality of external communication materials are consistent with our values, policies, corporate objectives and corporate identity.
- Increasing the effectiveness of communications with external stakeholders by editing and reviewing written and visual information and education materials for a variety of external audiences.
- Preparing and editing briefing notes for events and presentations for Mayoral speeches and presentations with community audiences.
- Developing communication tools/mechanisms that convey consistent and effective messages.
- Supporting the delivering of corporate internal communications requirements such as CEO and Director updates, and other significant internal communications, ensuring consistent alignment with any external messaging if relevant.
About You
With tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and previous experience working in a communications focused role, you will be resilient, self-aware, and able to handle challenges constructively and deliver under pressure. You will need to quickly build strong and effective working relationships with your team and key staff across the organisation and demonstrate a high level of consistent service to gain and maintain their trust.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated experience in communications, journalism, public relations or other communications-oriented roles.
- Proven experience in coordinating and writing significant organisational publications including reports and strategic documents.
- Proven ability to develop effective external and internal communications strategies relating to a range of issues and targeting a wide range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience writing and producing a wide range of other communication materials in a variety of engaging styles and formats for a range of audiences.
- Skills in photography and video production and editing will also be highly regarded.
