Join Our Team of Wellbeing Professionals in Toowoomba
Are you passionate about making a difference in students' lives? We are excited to offer dedicated professionals the opportunity to join our wellbeing services team in Toowoomba. If you're a Psychologist with a commitment to supporting students through their challenges, we want to hear from you!
About the Role
We are seeking skilled wellbeing professionals to contribute to our school-based support teams. As a member of these teams, you'll provide evidence-based counselling interventions for children from Prep through to Year 12 with mild-to-moderate mental health concerns. The students you'll be working with will be varied in presentation but may benefit from interventions to support them in developing emotional management skills, improving distress tolerance, managing their mood and supporting their interpersonal relationships. A knowledge of various counselling interventions will be necessary in this role.
Additionally, you will be expected to deliver broader social, emotional and wellbeing services across schools via group work, whole-year psychoeducation andwhole of school wellbeing strategies.
A key to your success will be your capacity to work with school staff and families to assist them in their understanding of the needs of students. Working collaboratively with key community organisations to link students and families to services will ensure holistic supports are provided.
Your role will not only enhance educational outcomes but also shape the future prospects of our students. You will collaborate with a dynamic support team and receive clinical and technical guidance from our regional wellbeing supervisors.
About You
We are looking for candidates who:
- Thrive in a role with a varied caseload, particularly focusing on mild-to-moderate mental health concerns, and the provision of therapeutic interventions to address them.
- Bring experience in a similar role, with a background in working with young people considered a strong advantage.
- Are highly organised, self-motivated, and capable of working both autonomously and as part of a team.
Why Join Us?
- Flexibility: Choose from full-time or part-time options and enjoy the opportunity to accrue time off during term time to take during school holidays.
- Support for new staff: Structured onboarding to the psychologist role and education system, and regular check-ins and supervision tailored to your needs as you orient to your new role
- Connection with the school psychology network: access to regular peer support and supervision from other school psychologists
- Professional Development: Engage in specialised growth and learning opportunities.
- Financial Benefits: Enjoy a 12.5% superannuation rate and salary packaging options.
- Wellbeing Support: Access our Employee Assistance Program and other supportive Department programs.
- Equipment Provided: Receive a laptop, mobile phone, and access to a fleet vehicle for school travel.
- Location: Work in beautiful Toowoomba, the “garden city” renowned for its rich history and vibrant community culture.
