Key responsibilities

  • Leads a team to participate in the HRTs across South Queensland, using sound judgment and proactive well-being strategies to manage a mix of Brisbane and regional based staff in complex roles responding to high risk DFV victims. Undertake the role of proxy for Victim Assist Queensland at various HRT sites as required.
  • Undertakes complex evidence-based decision making relating to the provision of assistance under the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009.
  • Provides oversight, guidance and expertise regarding decision making of applications made by High Risk DFV for financial assistance made under VOCAA.
  • Builds knowledge and promotes an understanding of the needs and rights of DFV victims to the business unit.
  • Builds and maintain relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including other departmental business units and the non-government sector, to ensure the effective participation in HRTs and efficient delivery of Victim Assist services.
  • Identifies broader factors, trends and influences that may impact on staff well being, output, work quality, timeliness and the intent to deliver trauma informed services.
  • Leads and motivates an organisational culture that values a trauma informed approach, internal and inter-agency collaboration, innovation performance and the positive contributions that staff bring to Victim Assist and clients.
  • Provides analysis and advice on complex operational process and policy issues to the VOCAA and the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012 and drives service improvements through the effective and efficient management of Victim Assist resources, policies, processes and systems.
  • Financial, Human Resource and Performance management activities including establishment management, workforce and succession planning, coaching, mentoring and staff supervision.
