About the role

As an Assistant Director at John Street Community Early Childhood Co-op', you will play a key role in supporting the Director in providing strategic leadership and oversight for the day-to-day operations of this vibrant early learning centre. Working in a full-time capacity, you will be instrumental in ensuring the delivery of high-quality childcare and educational programs that enrich the lives of the local community.

What you'll be doing

Assist the Director in setting the strategic vision and operational goals for the centre

Collaborate with the teaching team to develop and implement innovative, play-based learning programs that align with the Early Years Learning Framework

Oversee the effective management of staff, rosters, and resources to maintain optimal service delivery

Foster strong relationships with families, community partners, and regulatory bodies

Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant childcare regulations and quality standards

Contribute to the continuous improvement of centre policies, procedures, and practices

Deputise for the Director in their absence and undertake other duties as required

What we're looking for

Minimum 3 years' experience in a senior leadership role within the early childhood sector

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with families and the community

Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement

Demonstrated experience in leading and developing high-performing teams

A thorough understanding of the National Quality Framework, strong knowledge of the EYLF, and Child Safe Standards.

A passion for providing high-quality early learning experiences and a commitment to the wellbeing of children - with passion for inclusive, play-based learning and creating engaging environments for children and educators

Confidence in managing day-to-day operations, including enrolments, compliance, workforce planning, and invoicing

Capacity to act as the Responsible Person in charge during the Director’s absence, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations while compliance, safety, and quality standards are upheld

Collaborate closely with the leadership team to drive strategic improvements and lead the effective implementation of the QIP

Ability to mentor, develop, and inspire staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement

Current Working With Children Check, First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma training
