Workforce Extensions | Scoresby's client require a Brake Press Operator and a Factory Hand for their manufacturing site in Melbourne's Eastern Suburbs.

Position Description: Brake Press Operator

Position Purpose:

The Brake Press Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of brake press machinery to bend, shape, and form metal components to precise specifications. This role plays a vital part in the production process, ensuring high-quality outcomes that meet client and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate CNC and/or manual brake press machines.
• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine job specifications.
• Perform accurate measurements and quality checks using callipers, gauges, and other precision tools.
• Adjust machine settings and tooling to accommodate different materials and job requirements.
• Ensure components are formed to correct dimensions and tolerances.
• Identify and troubleshoot minor machine faults or defects.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with WHS regulations.
• Record production data and complete relevant job documentation.
• Work collaboratively with other team members in the fabrication and assembly departments.
• Perform routine maintenance and report any major issues to maintenance personnel.

Skills and Experience:

Essential:

• Proven experience operating a brake press machine (manual or CNC).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety practices.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Desirable:

• Experience working in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment.
• Forklift licence (LF) or overhead crane licence.
• Familiarity with other workshop machinery (e.g. guillotine, punch press, laser cutter).

Qualifications:

• Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (or equivalent experience).
• Personal Attributes:
• Reliable and punctual.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual handling tasks.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and workplace safety.

Working Conditions:

• Workshop or factory-based environment.
• Use of PPE is mandatory (e.g. safety boots, gloves, eye protection).
