About the Role:
At Curtin University, we are proud to be the only University in Western Australia to offer an Oral Health Therapy degree. We currently have a continuing part-time opportunity (0.6 FTE) for a registered dental practitioner (Oral Health Therapist) to join our team as a Senior Lecturer. This position requires work for three full days or four shorter days of your choice.
This role will be based at the Oral Health Care of Western Australia (OCHWA) in Nedlands, Mount Henry DHS as well as our Curtin Bentley campus. Our dental teaching and learning facility provides a full range of preventative and restorative oral health therapy services to the Western Australian community.

Your responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
- Course leadership.
- Deliver high quality teaching to undergraduate students within the Oral Health Therapy course.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing reflective improvement in teaching.
- Conduct tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions, as appropriate, which stimulate and foster student learning.
- Assess and evaluate students work.
- Contribute to curriculum innovation and content design.
- Contribute to professional development training programmes for Oral Health Therapists and other dental professionals.
Selection Criteria – Who we are looking for:
- AHPRA qualification.
- A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline (or equivalent accreditation) and professional standing for Teaching Focused Clinical Professional role.
- Proven high level teaching skills with a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching and learning.
- A significant contribution to scholarship in teaching and learning with an emerging record of success in winning external grants to support teaching projects and initiatives.
- A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline.
- An emerging record of peer reviewed publications in high quality journals.
- Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and unit/course coordination.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead teaching and learning initiatives and provide mentoring to less experienced staff.
- Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
- Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.
Role Requirements:
- As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered.
- Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin’s satisfaction.
- You are required to be a current AHPRA-registered dentist with an interest and experience in teaching and learning.
