Complete Staff Solutions are seeking a, physically fit Plant Operator to operate specialised plant and equipment including but not limited to Skid steer, Backhoe in a safe and efficient manner to facilitate the Infrastructure Services of the Council’s Road network and associated infrastructure in accordance with established standards and procedures.

Days/Hours of Work: 76 hours / 9 day fortnight with 1 rostered day off (RDO). Tuesday to Friday 8.5hrs. Monday 8hrs/RDO. Start to finish times – 6:45AM to 3:45PM on Tuesdays to Fridays and 6:45AM to 3:15PM on non-RDO Mondays.

Mandatory Requirements:

Conduct safety check and starting procedures on allocated plant/vehicle to prepare for operation and to ensure good working order

Operate assigned vehicle, tools, and plant with suitable knowledge of loading, manual handling, unloading and handling of ‘cargo’ to ensure vehicle, tools and plant has been operated safely and correctly

Transport staff, various materials and tow relevant equipment that is required to ensure availability and location at nominated work site

Have input and discuss with the Project Manager and suppliers to provide input into daily requirements to ensure that all required plant, materials, and labour are available

Erect barricades and safety signs and undertake traffic control duties to contribute to the establishment of a safe work site

Unload, carry and stack materials and place tools and equipment in position to ensure preparation of work area prior to commencement of work

Carry out a range of labouring duties to effectively support the operations of repairs and maintenance of Council’s Civil Operations and Parks & Open Space infrastructure

Required to participate in emergency situations such as floods or natural disasters

Lay pipes to a high degree of accuracy

Work with contractors and a knowledge of relevant paperwork

Separate materials from roads to contribute to quality of material for recycling.

Spread, level, and backfill materials to high degree of accuracy and tolerance regardless of inclement weather to ensure safety measures are met

Adapts to and works effectively within a variety of conditions and with various individuals or groups i.e. assist in other Infrastructure Services branches to ensure workforce flexibility and delivery of services to the community

CRITERIA:

Car licence - mandatory

MR or HR Licence (highly desirable)

White Card

Completed unit of competency RIIMPO319E Conduct backhoe/loader operations or Verification of Competency (VOC) for backhoe/loader operations

Knowledge of plant and materials used in civil works

Experience in the capacities and safe working loads of earthmoving equipment

Experience in working with hazardous materials and road construction materials

Awareness of potential workplace hazards (e.g. electricity, gas, water)

Experience in job site safety
