An ongoing temporary contract for a Parking Officer based in Sydney Local Council.

Your new role
The role is required to enforce parking and related regulations through effective patrolling and surveillance of car parks and streets in the local LGA by detecting breaches of the relevant Acts and Regulations.
You can also expect to:
- Issue warnings and/or penalty infringement notices in accordance with Council's enforcement policy.
- Stopping and parking contrary to notices
- On-street parking restrictions in residential parking scheme areas
- Parking and traffic arrangements for special events
- Present evidence in Court in relation to enforcement action instituted by Council.
- Promote the positive and collaborative culture and values of the organisation through open, fair and transparent decision-making and ethical, professional behaviour.
- Work in collaboration with and assist the team, manager and other key stakeholders to achieve business unit goals, work requests, demands and Council priorities.
You will demonstrate excellent Customer Service skills, keep calm under pressure, have a strong work ethic and enjoy being in the outdoors.
Please note, employment in this position is subject to a Police Check for criminal history.
What you'll need to succeed
- Current Class C drivers licence
- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and see tasks through to completion
- Proven ability to handle difficult situations and deescalate
- Proven experience in and commitment to customer service
- Demonstrated ability to communicate calmly and effectively with a diverse range of people
- Capable of working within the physical requirements of the position
- Understanding of EEO and WH&S principles
- Commitment to Council's values
What you'll get in return
You will be given continuous, full-time work for at least 6 months with a possibility of extending the contract or transitioning to a full-time council staff member.
